Welcome, Dr. Martinez – Our Newest Pediatric Dentist!
When hiring new staff, we look for candidates who are highly qualified, but also passionate about their work, and whose goals align with our mission. We are so glad to have found these traits in Dr. Kelsey Martinez, our newest pediatric dentist!

“When I first met Dr. Jenkins, it was clear we shared the same vision for success in pediatric dentistry,” shares Dr. Martinez. “I greatly admire Dr. Jenkins and her passion for creating a fun, safe, and family-centered environment. I hope to fulfill my role within that and I look forward to developing my own long-lasting relationships with the patients and families I get to work with. I could not be happier and more excited to join the amazing team at Jenkins Dentistry for Kids this August.”
Dr. Martinez’s Educational History
As a young girl in Wichita, Kansas, Dr. Kelsey Martinez spent lots of time in the dental office where her mother worked. It was there that her interest in becoming a pediatric dentist began.
“My mom is a dental assistant and has been at the same general dentistry practice for over thirty years. I spent my childhood going to work with her and shadowing the doctors throughout my adolescence,” Dr. Martinez explains. “I loved the close-knit feel of the office, getting to see the patients every six months, and creating relationships with them. I also love to work with my hands, and I think of dentistry as art.”
Dr. Martinez completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Kansas, her DDS at the UMKC School of Dentistry, and her postdoctoral residency at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center in Ohio.
Her professional memberships include the American Dental Association and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry.
Her Journey Back to Kansas City
“My husband and I both went to medical school and dental school in Kansas City,” says Dr. Martinez. “We are both from Kansas and we were very excited when he matched here to Kansas City for his residency in general surgery. We’re so excited to be back in our home state with family and friends and can’t wait to serve our community!”

Dr. Martinez and her husband keep busy with their young son Camden and their Boston Terrier Manny. In addition to spending time with family, Dr. Martinez also enjoys cooking tasty new recipes!
What Is Her Favorite Part of Pediatric Dentistry?
“I truly love hearing each child’s unique story and experiencing the rewarding fun of getting to know them,” says Dr. Martinez. “With a little help from the tooth fairy, Disney movies, and endless imagination, I strive to sprinkle a little sunshine on every tiny human I have the honor to treat.”
